The Chronicles of Narnia span seven books, written by the author CS Lewis. Contrary to popular belief The Magicians Nephew the first book of the series was written after the Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The next five books shortly followed.

 

 

The books in Chronological orders are

  • Prince Caspian and the Return to Narnia
  • The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
  • The Silver Chair
  • The Last Battle

The books chart the history of a mythical country called Narnia and the Narnian God Aslan. Narnian animals can talk to each other and magic is all around. The Chronicles have recently been made into a feature film. Prior to that a cartoon version was produced.

 

 

The Chronicles of Narnia have sold millions of copies worldwide, the most popular being "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" This has been turned into an animated film and a BBC Childrens Drama. More Disney Pictures have produced a blockbusting film. It is possible to buy toys and games based upon the Chronicles of Narnia.

 

The first book in the chronicles "The Magician's Nephew" was penned after the original publication of "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe." This tells the story of the creation of Narnia and how the Wardrobe becomes the gateway to the land of Narnia. "The Magician's Nephew" was not made into a film.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" starts when the four children of the Pevensie family, Peter, Susan, Edward and Lucy are evacuated to a country house during the war. Whilst playing hide and seek Lucy the youngest discovers a magical gateway via a large wardrobe to the land of Narnia, currently ruled by an evil witch. The story details the rule of the Witch, her subsequent downfall and the the crowning of the four children as Kings and Queens of Narnia. Look out for the appearence of Father Christmas who brings magical gifts to three of the children.
